    An Innovative Method of Measuring the Velocity of a Fragment

  • Original language description

    The research on the terminal ballistics of fragments in explosions is essential for understanding the fragment effect. This article focuses on the measurement of fragment velocity. Traditional methods such as laser gates, Doppler radar, and highspeed cameras have drawbacks, including complex experimental setups and high costs. The proposed innovative method uses a high-speed camera and two fixed plates, reducing costs and the risk of damaging expensive equipment. The camera captures both plates simultaneously, allowing for an accurate calculation of the time it takes for the fragment to pass between the plates and the subsequent determination of its speed and trajectory. The experimental setup includes the test charge, an opaque and transparent screen with axial crosses, a high-speed camera, and a fragment capture device. The results of the verification experiment confirm the functionality of the method and its potential for practical use.
