On Blast Wave Effects on Protective Structures
Original language description
The article deals with the effects of blast waves on protective structures. Protective structures are designed to safeguard people, equipment, and infrastructure from various hazards by absorbing, deflecting, or dissipating energy to minimize damage. Understanding blast waves, characterized by rapid pressure changes, is essential for designing effective protective structures. Field measurements using pencil probes record dynamic pressure changes caused by explosions, helping to evaluate asymmetric effects and improve protective designs. The measurement setup captures variations in blast wave pressure with distance and height. Results from TNT charges in different configurations show consistent overpressure profiles, aiding in the prediction of blast effects. Empirical formulas for blast overpressure are validated against experimental data, ensuring accurate predictions for protective structures.
