Biosensors commercial off the shelf in biological warfare attack
Original language description
Biological warfare agents are a threat that can be misused by a military or a terrorist group. Detection and identification of the agents is a necessary step to decide what countermeasures should be done. Biosensors represent a functional alternative to the standard methods like chromatography or polymerase chain reaction. In the current time, commercially available biosensors are not only electronic apparatuses but also simple however fully applicable strips. In this work, commercial instrumental biosensors for biological agents assay like Raptor, Biohawk, Biosensor 2200R and strips like BADD, Pro Strips, BioDetect, RAID 5, RAID 8 are introduced. The commercial biosensors are given into context of the current knowledge about biological warfare agents and standard methods.
