Preparation of Gas Sensors Based on Conductive Polymers in Combination with Nanofibrous Structures - part 3
Original language description
Conductive polymers are polymeric compounds that can behave as conductors due to the presence of conjugated double bonds. By using suitable dopants, their conductivity can be varied within a wide range. Such activated conductive polymers can significantly change their conductivity even when exposed to toxic vapors or gases and can therefore be used as a detection layer of gas sensors. The conductive polymer detection layer can also be applied to other types of gas sensors. A SORPTEST device with a QCM resonant sensor is currently available to monitor the response of the conductive polymer detection layer based on the QCM sensor frequency change. A similar device with a resonant SAW sensor is being prepared. Examples of application of these sensors for some toxic gases and vapors are given and the principle of their function is described.
