Original language description
The position of European rural women has some common features and at the same time, the national specifics are reflected. Generally, we can say that rural women mostly realized their ambitions in the family and household. Their activities are connected with the locality and close neighbourhood. Transitional processes of agriculture and countryside, which made their employment more difficult, influenced the life of Czech rural women. The EU enlargement is expected with hopes as well as fears. The contribution gives short characteristics of Czech rural women work and social life conditions, presents of their possibilities in the broader context of the EU rural areas. The contribution is based on actual empirical sociological research projects and their results are used to the development of educational courses and training in the program of Rural Gender Studies.
