Sustainable rural development (Theoretical insights into the models of rural development)
Original language description
The paper was intended to outline theoretical backgrounds for the research which will be implemented under the grant Economics of resources of the Czech agriculture and their efficient use in the frame of multifunctional agri-food systems. The text frames rural development into historical perspective focusing on its exogenous model firstly. It shows this model echoed modernist and productivist paradigm in rural development. After considered the outcomes, results and impacts of this model, the paper shows that the new model ? endogenous ? came into being. The last model reflects postmodern discourse in society and is based on both visible (natural, physical /manmade/ capitals) and invisible (human, cultural, intellectual and social capitals) factors needed for the development. It is territorially oriented kind of development aiming at the use and valorization of local resources through engagement and active cooperative participation of local rural inhabitants.
