LEADER in the Czech Republic and the farming sector
Original language description
The paper addresses the LEADER approach in the Czech Republic. Using documentary research and content analysis of appropriate documents and Local Action Groups information sheets the paper firstly outlines the evolution of LEADER approach in the Czech Republic. Paper also analyzes the participation of farmers and farming related actors in LEADER approach. The paper ends with the analysis of projects implemented under LEADER scheme where the farmers participate. It shows that more than integrated strategies the Czech local action groups prefer the strategies of multi-sector type. The paper also points out the publicly available information about the activities of local action groups are not sufficient, although the groups are funded from public budgets. This fact makes the analysis more difficult as for the scientific merit but also contradicts the principles of democratic governance.
