ANALYZING THE POTENTIAL OF RURAL TOURISM IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC
Original language description
Rural tourism plays an important role in regional and rural development in the Czech Republic. This article aims to identify the potential for rural tourism in the Czech Republic; and it especially focuses on LAU I regions. The potential for tourist locations can be recognized at three levels, the primary potential is represented by natural conditions and natural heritage, the secondary potential is covered by tourist infrastructure, and the tertiary potential represented by the institutional sector. This paper focuses mainly on primary and secondary potentials. The analysis is based on clustering, especially k-means clustering, of Czech regions in respect to their potential and attractiveness for rural tourism. The results from this paper can be usedby local authorities in their strategic development of rural areas and tourism.
