Within the study field of Public Administration and Regional Development, students of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague are acquainted with basic statistical methods for handling with economic and social data. These options are offered to students within teaching subjects Statistics and Economic and Social Statistics, provided by the Department of Statistics. This paper deals with the integration of the statistical program STATISTICA into the course of Economic and Social Statistics. Basedon the results of an inquiry survey, we will examine whether this innovation, from the students' view, has an influence on the effectiveness of statistical analysis teaching, and will also describe the experience of students with incorporating the statistical program into teaching.
