Cost and Benefit Criteria in MCDM Models

  • Original language description

Both cost and benefit criteria are being used in multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) models. For more reasons (e.g. computational comfort or methods? algorithms programming) it could be more convenient to work with a unified type of the criteria; usually, the benefit type of the criteria is used for such a purpose. That is why some procedures for the transformation of cost criteria to benefit criteria are necessary to be used. Unfortunately, these procedures are usually outside of the MCDM methods?algo-rithms. The problem is that some combinations of criteria transformation method and the MCDM method provide incorrect results of the original MCDM model and so they cannot be used. In this paper we focus on several frequently used MCDM methods. Weanalyze and verify their correctness from the point of view of criteria type transformation procedures in order to decision-makers can avoid the distortion of the MCDM analysis results.
