Propensity to criticalness in the PERT method, the expectation of time and distance of activities from project beginning
Original language description
One of the most popular and well known critical path method is Program Evaluation and Re-view Technique. In this method, activity durations are random variables, depending on the real random elements. Estimated duration of each task is known only with certain probability. Even this method is not quite perfect. It has some pitfalls, which can largely affect results of this method. Uncertainty of a task does not exactly de-termine whether a task is really critical, or whether it even provides a slack. Activi-ties? propensity to criticalness depends not only on estimates of activity durations, but also on the distance of activity from project beginning, activity?s duration, struc-ture of a network diagram, project manager?s experiences etc. Each activityis a part of one or more project network paths. Such activity ? in case it is not the final one - can be quite long, FS dependent and still not critical because many alternative paths with various duration estimates can influence its crit
