External Cost of Road Transport in the Czech Republic

  • Original language description

This paper tries to analyze road transportation externalities in Prague, capital city of the Czech Republic, by identifying and estimating external cost of congestion, air pollution, and noise. Globally, road transportation is blamed for numerous negative environmental impacts, such as air and water pollution, noise and vibrations disturbance, congestion, or infrastructure damage. The situation in Prague is not any different from other metropolitan areas around the world. While there are negative environmental impacts of road transportation and side effects of car manufacturing, car disposal, or road construction, the focus of this paper is on the externalities of air pollution, noise, and congestion which are related to the actual use of vehicles.
