Economic crisis in rural areas of the Czech Republic and Slovakia
Original language description
This paper deals with symptoms of the current economic crisis in rural areas of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The paper has a theoretical conception; however, the results of an empirical research are discussed in the text. The electronic questionnairehas been used to gather the empirical data. The questionnaire was sent to experts concerned with the environmental, economic and social situation in the countryside. Opinions of experts from the Czech Republic and Slovakia are compared in the paper. Agreements as well as disagreements that arise from a specific development and the current economic situation in the Czech and Slovak countryside were found in those opinions. The causes of the current economic crisis in the countryside were found in the national and global factors by Czech experts; Slovak experts further added the factors of a local character.
