Okun law: still working in the Czech Republic?
Original language description
Okun law has been discussed recently related to the so called jobless recoveries or its instability in the changing macroeconomic conditions. However, according to other authors, Okun law is still valid to most of the countries and its deviations are short-lived and less often. The aim of this work is to check the validity of Okun's law in the Czech Republic for the period 1997-2012 in a gap version of the Okun Law. The results of this paper partly confirm the validity of Okun's law, particularly for quarterly data. However, the statistical significance of linear regression models of Okun Law estimated by OLS method is quite low due to the short time series.
