MINIMUM WAGE IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC AND ITS IMPACT ON EMPLOYMENT IN COMPANIES
Original language description
Minimum wage is historically the oldest type of guaranteed minimum income variable; it represents the lowest level of wage which an employer is obliged to provide for work or performance resulting from an employment relationship. Minimum wage rates are determined by national governments, usually after prior consultation with social partners. If the minimum wage rate is well above the level of social benefits, social benefits will not pay off and unemployed will look for jobs. The aim of this paper is toexplain the concept of minimum wages in the CR, its regulation and practical implementation, and also to give reasons for changes in the minimum wage in selected countries and its impacts on employment in firms.
