Labour productivity has important role in agriculture, especially in connection with the requirement to increase its compatetiveness. If the productivity of agriculture is increasing its competetiveness is also increasing. This does not mean that productivity is the only factor that affects competitiveness. Some autors suggest that labour productivity in agriculture is largely in line with labour productivity in non agricultural sectors and with the level of the overal economic development of the country.
