COMPARISON OF CONVENTIONAL AND ORGANIC FARMING OF AGRICULTURAL COMPANIES IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC AND GERMANY
Original language description
A clean environment and its preservation is a major goal for the majority of countries. In developed countries, i.e. the U.S.A., Europe, Russia, Japan and South Korea, agriculture is considered the main source of air pollution. A problem of agriculture in Europe is the use of nitrogen fertilizers and animal waste. In Germany, agriculture is responsible for nitrogen contamination by as much as 57 %. However, the biggest problems are caused by mass animal breeding. Large quantities of nitrogen and carbon released in the atmosphere, and nitrogen and phosphorus released in ground waters. The Czech Republic has set its objective in this field, too. The Ministry of Agriculture is completing a Plan for the Development of Ecological Farming by 2020 with the objective of at least 15 % of the overall agriculture land farmed ecologically.
