Original language description
This contribution analyses the development of the efficiency of the agrarian sector in the NUTS 2 regions of the four Visegrad countries us-ing Data Envelopment Analysis and Malmquist index. The agrarian sec-tor is characterized by three inputs (agricultural land, annual work units and gross fixed capital formation) and one output (gross value added). The panel data refers to periods 2005 - 2013. Malmquist index shows very unstable development agrarian sector in the Slovak regions, there is a significant growth and decline. Contrary similar slightly positive development of efficiency is seen in the Czech Republic and Hungary. In Poland there are much less changes in the ef-ficiency of agrarian sector, there are practically no changes in the long run. This shows the high degree of agriculture permanence.
