    Vulnerability of the automotive supply chain – perspective of working capital management

    Due to essentiality of automotive industry for the Czech economy and to the dynamic development in connection with COVID 19 outbreak proposed text shall explore the vulnerability within automotive supply chain. This study is based on data sample composed of complete individual financial statements (audited where available) of firms conducting their business in the Czech Republic over period 2011-2018 and belonging to automotive supply chain. This supply chain is defined as sub/deliveries of Czech automotive industry represented mainly by companies classified under NACE 22, 27, 25, 24. Therefore, three basic sub-segments of the supply chain were defined: Tier 1 (raw material producers), Tier 2 (value adding parts producers) and Tier 3 (components manufactures and assemblers). The hypothesis has been confirmed that Tier 1 automotive suppliers are able to use its negotiation and market power to generate higher profitability and have lower indebtedness in comparison to Tier 2 and Tier 3 automotive supp
