Xylomidae, In: Barták, M., Vaňhara, J., (eds.) Diptera in an Industially Affected Region (North Bohemia, Bílina and Duchcov Environs) I
Original language description
Larvae develop under the bark of decaying logs and stumps where they apparently feed upon fungus spores and microorganisms. Adults occur, as a rule, in the vicinity of breeding places, where they often rest on wood at the edges of forests. Solva marginata is the most common member of this family, the other two species appear to be very rare in the last decades in particular. It prefers woodland with suitable breeding places, decaying logs and stumps of deciduous trees. On the other hand, it seems to beonly rare in mine dump restorations (e.g., locality 7)
