Original language description

The effect of aeration on distribution of Cd among main fractions of sewage sludge during eight months of incubation was investigated. Five fresh sewage sludges obtained from different waste water treatment plants were incubated under both, aerobic and anaerobic environment in the pot experiment. The plant - available portion of cadmium was determined by single extraction of sludge by 1 mol NH4NO3 . dm-3 solution in five sampling periods during incubation. Five-step sequential extraction procedure distributing cadmium to water soluble, exchangeable, oxide, organic and residual fractions was applied for determination of changes in Cd mobility during storage. Aerobic environment led to higher mobility of Cd and its redistribution into mobile fractions. The lack of air did not substantially change the portion of Cd in main fractions over eight months.
