Original language description

Open-cast brown coal mining affects a large rea in Northern Bohemia. Mining companies are obliged by law to restore the landscape and put the land back to agricultural, forest or other suitable use.Soils formed on these areas can be clasified as Anthrosols. The aim of this study was to describe and evaluate soils from different conditions, with different reclamation and of different age. Eight localities were selected to represent the results of different ways of reclamaitonk, namely covering wirth natural topsoil, combination of natural topsoil and marls, using marls alone, covering with loess and loess-like materials, and application of organic matter amendments. A site wirh no covering or amendments was also studied. Soil profiles were described andbasic soil analyses (ph, humus content and quality, soil texture, cation exchange capacity) were performed.
