Original language description
only one species of the family Hypodermatidae was found in the area under study, viz H. diana, a parasite of cervids. This species is distributed over all of our country with its main host, roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) (MINÁŘ 1982, 1997b). The speciesH. diana has a considerably wide range of hosts, the major one being the european roe deer, however, it parasitize on other cervid species, too. Larvae of this species have been found, especially in the past decades, also on the chamois, moufflon, four species of African antelops kept in captivity, and on the horse (MINÁŘ 1995). The occurence of H. diana in the study area (3 flying females caught by the Malaise trap) is the evidence of inhabiting of this area by its host, roe deer.
