Original language description
All species of this family seem to be particularly characteristic for mesic woods, only P. nigripennis penetrates even to more xerothermic ecosystems. Ecology of the latter species is apparently determined by the occurrence of its hosts, i.e. millipedes.Generally, both species recorded are not rare throughout Europe.
