Using PCR markers for detection of resistance against Globodera ssp. in Potatoes
Original language description
Using DNA markers is the current trend in plant breeding techniques. By using DNA markers, we can reliably detect the specific genotype and select the required individuals without effecting the external environment. For resistance enhancements, Marker Assisted Selection (MAS) is even more important, as it eliminates a direct contact with pathogens and pests, which in infection tests is unavoidable. This paper presents the scope of using dominant and co-dominant DNA markers in the detection of selected genes of the Solanum tuberosum ssp. tuberosum, resistant against parasitic cyst nematodes - Globodera rostochiensis and Globodera pallida. A set of dominant and co-dominant PCR markers was used to detect majorgenes which controlled potato resistance against Ro1 patotype of G. rostochiensis and against more patotypes of G. pallida. This methodological procedure was verified on a collection of potatoes varieties with a declared resistance against potato cyst nematodes. One hundred and forty
