Dynamics of life manifestation in Highland cattle in grazing period
Original language description
Ethological monitoring of the selected life manifestations has been observed in a herd of Highland breed cattle in the mountain conditions in the Czech Republic. The following manifestations of life have been selected: taking of feed (grazing), standing,ruminating-standing, walking, drinking, ruminating-lying and lying. A very good adaptation of the herd to the conditions of the local breeding has been observed. Animals were calm on pastures. They stand severe weather in winters very well. All transf ers (to the watering places, under trees sheltering before the sun or wind) were calm and collective in most cases. From ethological points of view pasture breeding of Highland breed cattle is a very good method, which conveniently complement other naturalforms of breeding (natural reproduction, breeding of calves with mothers, small herd of family type, natural moving all year round, peaceful atmosphere in the herd, not interfering in other needs of the herd).
