Control of volunteer cultural Amaranths in subsequent crops
Original language description
An increase in the area cultivated with cultural forms of Amaranthus will result in increasing weed problems in subsequent crops with volunteer plants. The most effective method to reduce viability of Amaranthus seeds was to establish a winter cereal crop by means of zero tillage. Volunteer Amaranthus plants will either be killed by frost or suppressed by the crop. Deep soil cultivation after harvest is less suitable, because seeds kept in the deeper soil layers will remain viable for several years
