Uptake of heavy metals by agricultural crops planted on nine different soils treated by sewage sludge
Original language description
The main objective of this study was focused on the accumulation of four potentially toxic elements Cd, Ni, Zn and Pb by above ground biomass of spinach, oat, and maize grown on nine soils with substantially different soil properties treated by processedfresh sewage sludge and on the changes of availability of both elements in soil when sewage sludge was applied. Spinach showed the highest accumulation of Cd and Pb in biomass among crops at all soils. Results of the experiment showed significant effectof investigated element as well as soil type and growing plant on the element availability and accumulation.
