The work assessed the effect of rearing quality on milk production of a herd of Holstein (H) and Czech Pied (C) cattle. An evaluation was made of the impact of selected factors (breed, lactation sequence, age at first mating, live weight at the ages of 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 months) on indices of milk production and reproduction (quantity of milk and contents of the milk components, age at first calving, length of calving interval, insemination index). We measured 8 bodily dimensions to characterize the growth of calves-heifers (height at withers, height at sacrum, direct body length, chest circumference, length of pelvis, front, middle and rear width of the pelvis). The results were evaluated statistically using a linear model in SAS software, with a correlation analysis for evaluating dependencies between the individual bodily measures.
