Experiments for determination of stand density and the scaled doses of nitrogen fertilisation on the formation and reduction of the yield potential of the winter rapeseed were carried out in the Research Station of the Faculty of Agronomy the CUA, Červený Újezd, in the years 1996 - 1998. The low stand density influences the structure of the plant. In case of fertilizing with 150 kg N.ha-1, the low density of population (10 plants.m-2) is not compensated by the increase of generative organs on primary and secondary branches and by the change of the yield elements. Starting by the stand density of 60 plants.m-2 we do not observe significant differences during the generative stage, neither in the number of branches nor in the number of created generativeorgans. Plants on stand density of 60 plants.m-2 fertilized with 300 kg N.ha-1 create many leafs and buds on lower branches, but their yield is comparable to plants fertilised with 150 kg N.ha-1.
