The undisturbed column of Typic Hapludoll, O.3 m diameter and O.85 m in height was taken in a hard plastic container from the field to the laboratory. A dripping head was used to create relatively homogeneous irrigation pattern of water over the soil surface. A transport of water was observed using sets of tensiometers for the pressure head measurements and sets of the TDR needle sensors for the soil water content measurements at five different depths. Coupling soil water contents and pressure heads mesured during the experiment made the profile of line of the soil water retention curves. Measured inflow on the top of soil column, soil water contents and pressure heads at five depths were also used to obtain hydraulic properties of the soil layers viainverse numerical modeling with the HYDRUS-1D (Šimůnek et al, 1998) .
