Freqvency of Clostridium sp. in faecal breast-fed infants.

  • Original language description

Thirty-five fully breast-fed infants in the age between 1 and 25 weeks were investigated, seven of them were delivered by caesarean section. Twenty-eight babies had bifidobacteria as dominant faecal bacterial group. Bifidobacteria counts in most faecal samples determoned by both cultivation methods and FISH procedure were from 10*8-10*11 CFU/g. Our results suggest the importance of clostridia screening in infants faeces as prevention against some diseases like colitis and infants botulism.
