Antimicrobial effects of certain plants used for the treatment of infectious diseases in the folk medicine of Lybia.

  • Original language description

The traditional medicinal methods still play a vital role to cover the basic health needs in the developing countries and medicinal plants used in the folk medicine provide still largely unexplored source for the development of potentially new anti-infective drogs. In many part of Lybia there is also a rich tradition in the use of medicinal plants for the of various infectious diseases, inflammations and injuries. Therefore, it is of great interest to carry out an antimicrobial screening of these plantsin order to validate their ethnopharmacological use and to reveal their active constituents.
