The effect of different rates and forms of N on microbial biomass nitrogen content in soil from long-term experiment
Original language description
The objective of this study is to evaluate changes in the microbial biomass nitrogen when different rates of N fertilizers and sewage sludge were applied in a long-term field experiments with maize. The contents of microbial biomass in treatments with sewage sludge were found higher by 25 % to 39 % compared to control. In treatments with applications of mineral nitrogen fertilizers microbial biomass N was lower on average by 21 % to 39 % compared to the control. Extractable organic nitrogen content wasalso highest in sewage sludge treatment by 23 % to 28 % compared to the control and lower in treatments with mineral N fertilizers by 20 % to 47 % compared to the control. There was a positive correlation (r = 0.42?0.83) between microbial biomass nitrogen and extractable organic nitrogen.
