Factors of spatial distribution of forest floor characteristics in two areas with different anthropogenic inputs
Original language description
Soil acidification represents a serious problem in forest soils of mountainous areas of the Czech Republic. This contribution compares selected soil properties of forest floor in two mountainous areas with different inputs of acid deposition. The JizeraMountains represent an area strongly influenced by acid deposition, the Novohradské Mountains an area with relatively low effect. An analysis of the factors of soil characteristics spatial distribution was performed by means of geostatistics. 98 samplesof the O horizons were collected in the Jizera Mts., 53 samples were collected in the Novohradské Mts. Forest floor in the Jizera Mts. had significantly higher content of S, N and potentially dangerous Al forms compared to the Novohradské Mts.; content of Mg was lower in the Jizera Mts. Variograms were calculated for soil characteristics and for stand factors (altitude, forest type, soil unit, geology, liming, grass cover on the immission areas). Maps of soil characteristics were created
