Weed beet occurs as a weed in sugar beet and a range of other crops. Plants begin to produce flowers from June through July. Seed production is proportional to stem height, and ranges up to 5 000 seeds per plant. The dispersed seeds have slight primary dormancy and form long-term seed bank. Most seedlings emerge from the depth 0.5 to 3 cm and 8 cm. In population of weed beet no individuals with different chromosome number were found.
