    Germination ability of oilseed rape varieties under water stress conditions

    The differences between varieties raised as the osmotic potential decreased. The most variable results were obtained under water stress of ?1.0 MPa. Following varieties were germinating in high rates (above 80%) and their Cv was higher than 30.0: Madrigal (the highest mean germination), Artus, Navajo, Laser, Baldur (the highest germination velocity and uniformity), Action, Slogan, Viking, Omaha, Catonic, Ramiro. These varieties are able to germinate under water stress conditions in sufficient numbers ina short time, giving good assumption for homogenous crop cover. High germination rate with lover germination velocity was obtained by varieties Spirit, Orkan, Lisek, and Elf. The rest of tested varieties did not reach the levels mentioned above. As ourresults show, it is possible to chose proper oilseed rape variety to minimise the risk of crop damage due to water stress during the germination period.
