The influence of slow-release nitrogen fertilizers on release of As, Cd, and Pb during plantation of Lolium multiflorum Lam.

  • Original language description

Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) was planted in pots where the plant biomass was harvested three times during vegetation period and simulated leaching was done also three times and element contents were determined in both plant biomass and soileluates. Although not confirmed by As, Cd, and Pb contents in plant biomass the element concentrations in eluates showed increasing As and Cd solubility at slow-release N- treatments while the changes in Pb solubility were negligible. The analyses confirmed the preferences of slow-release N- fertilizers in reduction of N release from the soil but suggested changes in mobility of potentially risk element such as As and Cd. Evidently, the long - term research is necessary for better knowledge of behaviorof slow-release N- fertilizers in soil.
