Original language description
Twenty-seven species of the family Sepsidae are currently known from the Czech Republic (Barták 2001 f, g). There is yet no monographic treatise on the family for the Czech Republic and individual data are scattered in many faunistic works. The most important contribution to the knowledge of species of this family was published by Zuska (1960). There is yet no recent treatise on the distribution and degree of endangerment concerning the Czech Republic area. The classification and nomenclature of the list presented here was employed in accordance with Zuska & Barták (1997b) and Barták (2001g). The larvae are saprophagous, coprophagous and necrophagous. A number of species are coprophagous ubiquist species (most species of the genus Sepsis) and they certainly do not belong to endangered species. Other species propagate in the course of recent years (Xenosepsis fukuharai). In contrast, some other species are known from only restricted number of localities and it seems that their abundance
