Intercropping of Salix sp. and Thlaspi sp. to enhance the phytoextraction on Cd and Zn contaminated soils

  • Original language description

Intercropping of selected plant species to affect the uptake and phytoextraction of Cd and Zn was tested in this experiment. We compared individual and joined growth of Thlaspi caerulescens and Salix dasyclados. Concentrations of studied elements were determined in harvested aboveground biomass. Intercropping of both plant species did not significantly affect concentration of Cd and Zn in analyzed plant parts. On the other side, there was determined significantly lower yield of aboveground biomass in Salix planted in combination with Thlaspi. This lower yield caused significant decrease in remediation effect of Salix in this combined treatment.
