The effect of immobilization measures in multielement contaminated soil on element uptake by selected crops
Original language description
The effect of lime, limestone, and zeolite addition on the availability of As, Cd, Cu, Pb, and Zn in 3 contaminated soils have been investigated in a pot experiment in 2 vegetation periods of spring wheat and spring barley. Negative effect of soil contamination level on yield of straw and grain biomass was observed. Generally, the results showed significant decrease of Cd, Pb, and Zn uptake by plants growing at limed and synthetic zeolite treated soil in most of cases while the natural zeolite demonstrated less immobilization effect. For arsenic and copper the plant uptake reflected the changes in their mobility in soil, as well.
