Analyses of mating type, response to systemic fungicides and mitochondrial DNA haplotype in Czech Phytophthora infestans isolates from 2005 and 2006
Original language description
Late blight diseased potato and tomato plants were collected from different regions of the Czech Republic in the years of 2005 and 2006. A large collection of Phytophthora infestans isolates was used in studies of the population structure of the pathogen. Mating type determination via conventional pairing test and the cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence (CAPS) analysis revealed that 74% and 26% of isolates represented the A1 and the A2 mating type, respectively. No self-fertile isolate was found. Allthe isolates appeared to be sensitive to the systemic fungicides metalaxyl, dimethomorph and propamocarb-hydrochloride as well. Analysis of mitochondrial DNA showed that the majority (83%) of isolates were haplotype Ia and the rest of isolates represented the IIa hyplotype, referring to the distribution of a new migrant population of P. infestans.
