EDTA-enhanced uptake of Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn by Zea mays from a contaminated agricultural soil

  • Original language description

Enhanced phytoextraction using EDTA effectively increases uptake of studied heavy metals Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn by Zea mays. The mode of application has an influence on phytotoxic effects observed on the plants and on the uptake of heavy metals by the plants.Applying the EDTA doses at once causes higher phytotoxicity but also higher uptake of heavy metals than applying the corresponding amount of EDTA in several smaller doses.
