Measurement of unsaturated hydrqaulic conductivity in situ using automated tension infiltrometer
Original language description
A design of an automated tension infiltrometer for the field use, where both, recording of the water level changes and the setting of the tensions, could be automated, is presented in this paper. For the automation of the water level recording a single differential pressure transducer was employed. The Mariotte bottle was automated by a set of solenoid valves which were connected via tubing to proedefined depths in teh Mariotte bottle. The tension control was managed via aqn USB-based analog and digitalinput/output module and a Cmapbell 21X dtalogger was used to record the water level readings. The experiment settings, such as time period for a selected tension and data recording automated tension infiltrometers connected to a single automated Mariotte bottle. A new water found to reduce the reading fluctuations caused by bubbling duriáng the infitration process. This device can provde both, steady-state and transient data that can be analysed with analytical or numerical methods.
