Effect of polypropylene covering on the yield formation dynamics of early potatoes
Original language description
Precise field experiments were performed during 2001 - 2004 in lowland of Elbe River in the Czech Republic. Soil temperature was monitored in covered and uncovered option and yield of tubers was evaluated in three terms of harvest. Cover of rows enhancedthe market yield of tubers at early harvest 60 days after planting in average of years 2001, 2002 and 2004 by 33.6 % in comparison with the uncovered control. Remarkable yield effect of the textile was reached in early harvest in 2003 (463 % in comparison with control), when in control stands freezed sprouts in soil before emergence, while under the textile they were undamaged. At harvest 67 days after planting difference in advantage of covered variant was 14.4 % and 85 days after planting the difference in yield between variants was already non significant. Yield effect of fleece was affected also by variety (Impala responded at 60 days after planting by yield increase under fleece 43.3 %, Adora 23.8 %). Cover enhanced average temper
