The availability of water and efficiency of water utilisation for germination is one of the basic factors that influence field emergence rate and following plant growth. The large variability in water use efficiency of seeds of different species and cultivars exists. Similar results between spring and winter wheat were also obtained (r = 0.78m). Provenance and the application of 24-epiBR have a substantial effect on contamination of the seeds by spores of fungi.In the case of phytohormone content it isnot possible, to draw any conclusion on the correlation between the hormone content and the capacity to germinate and take up water.
