Assessing the RegCM performance in simulating winter and summer temperature and precipitation over the Republic of Moldova
Original language description
We validate the ability of the regional climatic model RegCM to simulate winter and summer temperature means and precipitation totals over the Republic of Moldova. The RegCM simulations were conducted at a horizontal resolution of 10 km in the frameworkof EU-FP6 project - CECILIA. The domain was centred over Romania at 46 degrees N, 25 degrees E and included the Republic of Moldova. The model simulations forced by ERA40 were compared with the observations from CRU TS2.1 dataset and stations. The validation period is 1960-1997. We compared the simulations with observations from CRU TS2.1 data set and observations at 15 representative stations from Republic of Moldova. The spatial distribution of simulated seasonal temperature means and precipitation totals were compared with CRU data and station observations. The spatially averaged monthly temperature means and precipitation totals of model simulation were compared with the corresponding values of observations from CRU data set and at
