Changes of some biochemical parameters in rats supplemented with high doses of zinc lactate
Original language description
The experiment was conducted during a six-week period on 18 Wistar rats, 12 animals given feed with zinc lactate (120 mg per rat and week) in feed mixture and 6 control animals fed a standard mixture for rats (ST-1). Sixteen biochemical parameters were measured from blood (serum) samples: total protein (TP), albumin, urea, glucose, triacylglycerols (TAG), non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA), cholesterol, creatinine, alkaline phosphatase (ALP), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), uric acid (UA), magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), phosphorus (P) and trace elements such as iron (Fe) and zinc (Zn). Zinc concentration was determined by a manual method with the use of spectrophotometer Libra S6 (Biochrom) and the other parameters were determined by a spectrophotometer using an ERBA XL 200 (Erba Lachema) automatic analyser. When compared to the control group, we found that rats fed with zinc lactate had higher concentrations of glucose, uric acid, urea, iron, magnesium, calcium, triacylglycerol, total pr
