Bisphenol S affects quality of mouse oocytes after in vivo treatment
Original language description
Endocrine disruptors, such as fytoestrogens or bisphenols, represent a serious threat for human reproduction because already extremely low doses show biological effect. The negative effect of bisphenol A has been described and female reproduction failures, including abortion of oocyte maturation, oxidative stress incidence and disruption of spindle formation, as well as inadequate chromatin changes, were observed. Bisphenol S (BPS) has recently become ordinarily used in plastic and other materials to replace bisphenol A, altough its biological effect remains unknown. Based on similar chemical structures of both molecules, we hypothesized that also BPS causes disruption of meiotic spindle formation and chromatin damage.
