A case of unilateral anophthalmia in an adult Pelophylax kl. esculentus (LINNAEUS, 1758)

  • Original language description

Various types of morphological ab normalities are found in amphibians all over the world. Among non-skeletal abnormalities that are not related to coloration, anophthalmia (the absence of the eye) and localized or generalized edema are most frequently detected. On September 30, 2017, during the study of water frogs, the authors found an adult male Pelophylax kl. esculentus, who had only one (right) eye. The frog was captured in a pond of about 4 m2, located in Pacov, in the Region of Vysocina, Czech Republic.
